Welcome Students & Enthusiasts!

This is a project website for a group who took a Mechatronics course (SEng 466) at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC. We designed, built, and programmed a quadcopter using Solidworks, a MakerBot 3D printer, and a modified version of the AeroQuad software.

If you have any comments or questions, feel free to leave a comment on this post or anywhere else on this site.

Project 1 details a preliminary project not having to do with the quadcopter.

Project 2 explains most details about the mechanical design of the quadcopter frame.

Project 3 shows some modifications we made to the AeroQuad software and some demonstration videos of the copter flying.

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Would you recommend the Makerbot replicator at the high school level.

    Thank you

    • Yeah definitely! I wouldn’t say it’s an easy project though, but students who are willing to put in the work will find it very rewarding. You can also find lots of pre-made printable objects at thingiverse.com

      • Thanks Garrett. I appreciate your response. We have several ideas in utilizing a 3D Printer. Thanks again. Greg
